  • Let it simmer for about 20-25 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together. 
  • If using, stir in the brandy just before serving. 
  • Strain the mulled wine to remove the spices and orange slices.

Peppermint White Hot Chocolate

Ingredients

  • 4 cups whole milk 
  • 1 cup white chocolate chips or chopped white chocolate 
  • 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract

Instructions

  • In a saucepan, heat the whole milk over medium heat until it's warm but not boiling.

Classic Sugar Cookies

Instructions

  • In another bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

  • Divide the dough into two discs, wrap in plastic, and chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour. 
  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). 
  • Line baking sheets with parchment paper. 
  • On a floured surface, roll out the chilled dough to about 1/4 inch thickness. 
  • Use cookie cutters to cut out shapes.

Ingredients

  • 1 whole turkey (12-15 pounds)

  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder

  • 1 onion, quartered 
  • 1 lemon, quartered 
  • Fresh herbs like rosemary, sage, and thyme 
  • Chicken broth or water 

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 325°F (165°C). 
  • Rinse the turkey and pat dry with paper towels. 
  • In a small bowl, mix together softened butter, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. 
  • Carefully separate the skin from the turkey breast and rub the seasoned butter under the skin and all over the turkey. 
  • Stuff the turkey cavity with onion, lemon, and fresh herbs.

  • Place the turkey on a roasting rack in a roasting pan. 
  • Add chicken broth or water to the pan.

  • Check the turkey's internal temperature (it should reach 165°F or 75°C in the thickest part of the thigh).

Classic Mashed Potatoes

Ingredients

  • 4 pounds potatoes (russet or Yukon gold), peeled and cut into chunks 
  • ½ cup unsalted butter 
  • 1 cup whole milk or heavy cream or cream cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste 
  • Chopped fresh parsley (optional, for garnish) 

Instructions

  • Place the peeled and chopped potatoes in a large pot and cover with cold water. 
  • Add a generous pinch of salt. 
  • Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to simmer and cook until the potatoes are fork-tender (about 15-20 minutes). 
  • Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Mash the potatoes using a potato masher or a ricer. 
  • In a small saucepan, heat the butter and milk (or cream, or cream cheese) until warm. 
  • Gradually add the warm milk mixture to the mashed potatoes, stirring until smooth and creamy.

Classic Apple Pie

Ingredients

  • 2 prepared pie crusts (homemade or store-bought) 
  • 6 cups peeled, cored, and thinly sliced apples (mix of Granny Smith and Honeycrisp is great!) 
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar 
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour 
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon 
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg 
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice 
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (cut into small pieces) 
  • Egg wash (1 egg beaten with 1 tablespoon water) 

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). 
  • Place one pie crust in the bottom of a pie dish.
  • Bake the bottom crust with pie weights for 20 minutes.
  • In a large bowl, combine sliced apples, sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice. 
  • Toss until apples are coated. 
  • Remove pie weights and then pour the apple mixture into the baked pie crust-lined dish. 
  • Dot the top with pieces of butter. 
  • Place the second pie crust over the apples. 
  • Trim excess dough and crimp edges to seal. 
  • Cut slits in the top crust for steam to escape. 
  • Brush the top crust with the egg wash for a golden finish.
